Hi all Just finished a large tumble of mixed material today...some of it scraps from my cab making and assorted other material...I'm pretty pleased with the results....hope you enjoy... Banded Hematite...one of my favorites, it takes a wicked shine and looks very unique when completed... Montana Moss....love this stuff... Casper Mtn. Red Agate... Banded Onyx... Sweetwater Agates...another fav of mie for tumbling... Youngite...some of these are re-tumbles to get a better shine... Marshall Rd. Moss Agate... Thanks for looking!

Maybe used to live in Wyoming? All the material in the photos except of course the Montana Moss agates are local materials... Interesting factoid about Montana Moss agate however...although found in Montana, it wasn't originally formed there. It was formed in what is today Yellowstone Ntl. Park in Wy., it was then carried downstream into Montana by the Yellowstone river. It can be found in the park, but it is of course illegal to collect it there. So in a way, it is also a "local" material...

Because they both fluoresce a beautiful green color under shortwave ultraviolet light.

What was your method on the hematite? I have some specular hematite and it seems awfully brittle.

What was your method on the hematite? I have some specular hematite and it seems awfully brittle. No special treatment for the hematite...rotory tumble 60/90 until it's shaped, 3 days vibe with 500 grit, 2 days vibe with A/O, 3 hours vibe burnish with ivory soap....
