Your slab 001 without the lightbox is white. The same slab with the lightbox is pink. Which one is true to the rock?
When I started using a lighbox, I had to adjust the White Balance on my camera so that the colors in the lightbox looked correct, especially the whites. There is a post on this on one of the forums.
Once you get the lightbox worked out, you will always use it. Like HD TV, it also magnifies every little flaw.

number one could be alittle whiter. I did adjust the balance and this was the best out of the 3 choices. the other 2 were yellow looking.

I like your pics from the light box. They look clearer, brighter and more alive. I'm sure you will work out any kinks so congrats to the new improved pics.

The picture in the light box is better. Its brighter and you have the camera perpendicular to the slab so I think the picture is much more clear. I can't tell if the white balance is off but obviously you don't want customers disappointed that the pink slab they purchased is actually white.
If you print off a standard test page from your color printer you could use that to adjust and validate your camera settings until you have something satisfactory.
You should probably put your rulers in your light box too. It's nice to know the scale without having to read the fine print.
