Well Tony and I needed a little vacation so we packed up and headed south to Virginia Beach to visit with Biker Randy, it was about a 6 hour drive! The visit became even more exciting when (Frane)-Fran, said she would drive over 4 hours to come and meet all of us in VA Beach! The best thing I can say about both Randy and Fran are that they are really genuine, honest, caring people, and it was just so easy being together! It is like you have known someone for years! We had a blast! No time for cabbing or wrapping, too much talking to do! So here are some highlights!
First the view from our room, I wanted to listen to the ocean, so we slept with the door open, and had an 80 degree day on Friday!
So Friday night we hooked up with Randy and Harlie, his 7 year old daughter and talked and went for sushi! Fun night, and little Harlie is just a doll! I have a beautiful beaded necklace and picture from her!
Saturday was check out! I didn't want to leave, but I was anxious to meet Fran, so we headed over to Randy's and got there around 10:30! More talking, and Fran is just as sweet as can be! She didn't want her picture posted, but she is beautiful inside and out, a really great person, I hope to have as a friend for a long time!
She brought me some slabs and preforms!
So after much talking, we headed to the rock shop that Randy had been telling us about! Well Fran and Tony had on their RTH shirts, so the owner and Randy were talking, and he logged him into RTH and he told us we would receive a discount on the rough, $2.50/pound!
So we head outside and this is what we see!
20 years worth of material thrown outside, everything from obsidian, Montana's, jasper, wood, Brazilians, you name it is there, picture jaspers, biggs, an assortment like you wouldn't believe, in sizes from small pieces to 100 pound boulders!
So as not to disappoint the Bikerrandy fan club, I had to get the girls worked up with shots of Randy's booty!! With that southern drawl and those eyes, how can you not love him? LOL!!!
Miss Harlie the rock hound, she is a sweetie!!!
So in the end I had a pile, but scaled it down to 20 pounds, rainbow obsidian, royal Sahara jasper, rainbow pet wood, crazy lace, flame agate, etc! Great stuff!
There was a huge hunk of clam shell fossil agate, too big for the workforce, that I really liked, so Randy bought it and shared with all of us! Thanks Randy, I love it!
On the right-pieces of wood, he cut for me, and some other cutting he made, and some stone canyon, it was a big share fest!
And can I just say that Randy is the master slabber!!! He can cab, wrap and slab!! He cuts perfectly even slabs, it was something to watch! And I learned the best trick, to turn the saw blade away from me and pull toward me so I don't get soaked, duh....never thought of that!
We just finished loading the rocks in Randy's truck when the rain and wind came, and all of a sudden the temp dropped like 20 degrees! We went back to Randy's and he ordered pizza, combined with a few PA beers and weathered the rain to saw for us!
So we stayed until about 6 and then had to head home so I could make it to Easter with the family because I had a new member to meet!
My new nephew and Godson, Michael!! He came 5 weeks early, he is so tiny, but he is OK, and I am hopeful he will get big soon!
This Easter was one to remember, thanks to Randy and Fran and Tony for making my first holiday without my son, who was away with his father, so special!!! I hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter holiday!
