The kids are off this week so we decided to head down to the beach to hang out and do a little rock hounding.Ended up picking up about 200 lbs. before the tide started coming back in.about half tumbling rough and the rest some good sized chunks for slabbing. Here's a small amount I dumped out on the workbench. In the lower right is some local Granite. My daughters stash. Some big chunks of this unknown rock, loaded with mica. some more unknown rock. Nice streak of blue in this one. the small one on the left is common here, weighs almost as much as the stone next to it and sticks to a magnet. here's a better pic of it. here's where the granite comes from,it was quarried about 10 miles away in Branford,ct.That's Mike junior running away from the crazy rock people. I slabbed a few pieces last night and was pretty surprised at what I found,I'll post some pics later in the slab section.Still got a lot more in the truck but my back is killing me from bending over picking up rocks all day.The area we got most of the rock is right where a tidal marsh meets Long Island Sound so it's only accessible at low tide.I cant wait for the weather to get a little warmer so we can spend a little more time there. But I,ve got enough rough to last quite a while.Hope you enjoy the pics. Mike

Great looking haul from the outside. Can't wait to see the inside.
