I spent several hours putting this together today. I sorted through a lot of my stuff and came-up with this sweet batch. A friend gave me one of her old scales, so there's no more guesswork. This is 7+ pounds of A-Grade Chrysocolla-in-Quartz from The Blue Mule (real nice stuff), 7+ pounds of Boysenberry Jasper, 7+ pounds of Zebra Stone, and 7+ pounds of assorted agate and jasper from Agate Road and Owlhole Springs. Once all of this material goes in the box, I will add more EXCELLENT stuff until it's full ... probably another 2 or 3 pounds. Although there are some pieces which may be tumbling size (1 or 2 cabbers), these are mostly larger pieces, perfect for small saws such as the WF. There are at least a couple hundred sweet cabs in this material. The price is $45, including free Priority Mail shipping within the continental US. Since my normal price for A-Grade from The Blue Mule is $5 a pound, that means that you're basically getting everything else in the box for free. Make your payment to my PayPal account, groovatism@hotmail.com, THEN PM me to let me know you've made the purchase, so that I can mark the lot as SOLD. If you live outside the continental US and wish to buy, please contact me before paying so that the shipping cost can be calculated. Here's the Chrysocolla and the Zebra Stone: Here's the Boysenberry Jasper and the other Agates and Jaspers: Close-ups of the moss agate from Owlhole Springs!: Thank You Very Much For Looking!!!

Michael, What is that zebra stone? I checked www.mindat.org and there is no reference. Thanks, Scott

SOLD to renterdan. DANG, that was FAST!
Thank You Very Much, yet again, Dan!
Scott ... it's often called zebra agate or zabra jasper. Less often, it's called zebra stone. Rather than get caught-up in the whole "proper naming" crap, I went with zebra stone.
If you do a search for just "agate" on mindat, you'll see that they have a relatively ... hmmm ... low tolerance for all of the amatuer mindgames which are so prevalent when dealing with "Agatey/Jaspetey/Quartzetey" (my term LOL) materials, as well they should. I mean, for chissakes, it's nickel/dime stuff in the grand scheme of things, so "call it a pretty stone, make a cab, and get over it" REALLY should be good enough ... but that's just my opinion. OH, wait ... that seems to be Mindat's opinion, too (one of the most-used lapidary references in the world).
To clarify ... I'm not saying that it's not interesting, or that I don't respect people who can look at 1000 different samples and tell you exactly where they came from. I'm just saying that some people place far too much importance on it.

I wasn't overly concerned about hanging a name on it. I understand what you mean about the naming conventions by pattern, color, location, mine, etc. I was more curious to find out more about the stone - hardness, is it porous/will it take a polish. From the picture I thought it might be some kind of marble. It never hurts to ask as I am still largely clueless about the 40+ pounds of rock I've already gotten from you.

I understand.
The Zebra Stone was part of a local trade. I traded two chunks of Selenite for a lot of assorted rough. It's a fairly common stone used in lapidary, so perhaps folks who have worked it can comment on it.
As far as being clueless about the material you bought from me, that's my general idea. I try to supply mostly uncommon material, stuff that you can't easily buy elsewhere, if at all in some cases. If I find a rock that's pretty, hard, and looks like it'll make a nice piece of jewelry, chances are that it WILL be, very shortly. And people seem to really like being able to make jewelry that deviates from the norm. The price is right, too, which makes it do-able ... my prices are generally far less per pound than cheap hamburger ... and hamburger just doesn't cab well. Hehehehe.

Hehehe glad you're happy with it, Dan. The weight of that box is my record to date! The previous record was 29lbs, 15oz, so yours beat it considerably. Although the ad said "25+ pounds", and that's what the pics reflect, I had other stuff I wanted to get in there, and I had to repack it twice, but I finally got it all to fit. I hope you enjoy it al, and as always, I'd love to see pics of what you do with it!
Again, Thank You Very Much, Dan!
