Over the weekend Joi and I went to a nursery to look for plants. Well this place also had rock. I saw this one and had to have it. It weighs 89 pounds. Look at all that druze!! Some closeups Here it is in its new home. I have no idea what it is, thy guy called it sponge stone but that isn't correct. So if anyone has a clue I would love to know. Thanks for looking.

It's drusy quartz and looks like it has a little bit of lace to it. Some people do call it sponge rock. We sold a lot of that to a nursery in Texas last year. It really looks just like some samples we've gotten from Reynolds county Missouri. I would bet money it came from Reynolds, Iron or maybe Washington county Missouri. I'll try to post some pics of our big sponge types. It really really looks like some of our stuff and I think you'll agree once I post some pics of our bigger stuff. You did good! Those big ones are tough to haul out also!!!!! Sandy P.S. IT'S GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It almost looks like the Summerville Agate from Georgia. I have never seen or found a piece like that one. I only have found maybe fist size like the druze. Very nice specimen !!!

Very nice yard rock. Definately looks like a druzy quartz but I couldn't tell you from where.

I don't know what it is either, but there are pieces of stone like that in the decorative rock around the apartment complex where I live--the botroidal druze on what looks like a mix of chalcedony and silcified limestone. weird, but neat!
