Hi! My husband and I are going on a trip this weekend to Paso Robles, CA and will also be visiting Cambria, CA (Moonstone Beach). Just curious if anyone knows of any good rockhounding sites in that area.

Susan and I will be down there the next weekend, so if you hear of any good spots, try to leave a piece or two for us!

No worries... I'm sure there will be plenty left. My hubby and I are fulltime RVers so the amt I can reasonably collect is limited. Also, I'm so new to all this that I don't know what's "really good" stuff anyway - just what looks good to me! Have you been to Cambria before? We've been a few times - it's a really neat place to spend some time. KT

No I've driven past a few times, but Susan was in Architecture, and we've both wanted to tour Hearst Castle so we're finally doing it. The weekend looks like it will be a little hectic, 2 castle tours Saturday and one Sunday, with a 5 hour drive home- but that's not too bad, so I'm hoping to get a little time to look for rocks maybe Satuday afternoon/evening...

We took one of tours (the one recommended for first time vistors) of Hearst Castle - it is impressive - I'm sure you'll both enjoy it.
