More like 2 mohs I tested it.

Tried a scratch test today. Its soft, a fingernail marks it. So 2 mohs at most.

It looks like a piece of clay that was starting to concrete. (concreet?) Harden. and then it had another layer of clay surround it. Break it open! See what it's got inside!!

I can't break it open Lizard, how many cave men could have possibly been eaten by a carnivorous cow to end up as only a finger remaining in a cow patty. And then out of all the times that happened to have it fossilize!! Do you realize how bad the odds of finding another one are? It makes diamonds look like gravel.
Or it could just be a concretion. That was my second thought too.

Looks like a limonite concretion, half weathered away.

I don't know but it makes me think of why the men in my family hate going to the doctors.

I find a lot of similar stuff down here in Ohio and I seem to recall reading somewhere that it is petrified mud. I know that sounds pretty lame but I think thats what I discovered when I tried to find answers myself. Forget the Moh's test what does it smell like. Wild bears sh t in the woods. Did you find it in a pasture?
