Here are a few photos of some mini-slabs from Wassons Bluff, Parrsboro, Nova Scotia. Although this location is within sight of Partridge Island (previously posted) the material is quite different here lacking the agates that the island has to offer.
This area is geologically complex. The rock has been steeply uplifted (rebound from when the glaciers melted) and highly faulted. It is also a contact zone between sedimentary rock of the McCoy brook formation (Jurassic), basalt of the North Mountain formation (Jurassic) and newer material from the Parrsboro formation (Carboniferous).
Enough of the geologic “gobbly-gook”, here’s the pics …

The weather is going to be warm this weekend (at last) and the moon will be pulling the tide especially low early Saturday morning. I’m already researching my next hunt and as usual, will post both the location and my finds.

ranchorosa: I found Quartz just east of Dryden, TX. and it does not seem to be a common find. I looked online and it seems like quartz is only typically found near Llano and further west in Alpine, TX..... could this be a sign of possible bigger finds in the area?
