Horseshoe Cove is an easy stop on the way to and from Cap d’Or. This is about 2 to 3 miles from the Cap d’Or Lighthouse. Photo 1 – Horseshoe Cove Headland - EastThere is about ½ mile of rock laden crescent beach (shaped like a horseshoe) between the east and west headland. Photo 2 – Horseshoe Cove – WestThe tide was starting to rise and bury beach fast by the time I got here. Photo 3 – Headlands and TrapsYou can see how the resistant headlands (basalt) have resisted the erosion that has cut out the traps between them. The traps are great places to hunt but you can see how the traps are cut-off by the rising tide. I wasn’t pushing my luck today, and stuck to easy picking. Photo 4 – The One That Got Away … Again! This one blew me away as the orange/red crust turned to green quartz with a white crystal interior. I hand dug in the sand at the base to see if it was a nodule and an endless seam. I dug down about a foot and could find no end to this one. Then I cried! Photo 5 – The One That Got Away – Close-upI have no words for it. Photo 6 – Today’s Bag LimitThese ones came easy. It took less than an hour to fill my bucket working the beach from east to west. I’ll post some photos of the better slices later this week. 150FromFundy

Very cool place, I'd like to see some of those rocks cut.
