Here is a belt buckle that I made for myself about 25 years ago. I wore it for many years until the cab cracked at the bottom. It is made from a 1/2" thick slab of British Columbian Nephrite, Priday Plume Agate and silver. Bob

Very nice design, and well executed. You need ro 'recab' it, and put it bake into service. Woody

Always admire your work, especially the flowed metal castings, any chance of your sharing the techniques and equipment needed?
thanks

Great idea. I am planning on making my Dad a buckle for father's day. I was thinking of finding one I could place a cab on. Now I think I'll make a buckle out of a cab! Could you possibly post a picture of the back side? I'm curious as to what you used for fastners.
Thanks,
Nate

Very cool and original buckle. Are the smaller cab and the silver net glued on the nephrite? And how could a leather belt be attached to that buckle? Or is that "cab on cab" work supposed to be set in the metalic part of the buckle?

Adrian, The silver part was cast with a few pegs on the back. I drilled matching holes and epoxied the silver on. Then I bent the prongs over the cab. The loop for the belt and the hook on the back were attached the same way. I drilled holes and epoxied them in. I roughed the pegs and legs for the silver findings and enlarged the bottoms of the holes slightly to help the adhesion to the Jade. If you want I can post a picture of the back. Bob

Thanks for the explanations, Bob. The back seems to be even more interesting than the front so yes, a picture would be great if you please.

Awesome creation! Thanks for the information on how the silver was attached to the jade. That technique should make a very secure mount. Now you just need to replace the cab and show us a picture of the new buckle after it's repaired......Mel

Man, that is so cool. That fact that it has lasted you that long says something about your workmanship.

Adrian, Here is a photo of the back. It has a loop for the belt and a peg for the hole in the belt. For this buckle to work the end of the belt must be doubled over and have a heavy duty snap so that it can be opened up and threaded through the loop. Thank you all for the praise and compliments.
