FYI: I got this message today from my Rock Club. Anyone in the Lewistown PA area might be interested. Not sure if this is the proper area to post, but here goes: "Please pass the following information on to your fellow members. There will be a total liquidation auction of a lapidary shop on May 23rd in Lewistown, Pa. See www.chesneyauction.com for pictures and additional information. Included will be more than 20 milk cases of raw and polished stone such as: petrified rock, tiger eye, jasper, opal, turquoise, herkimer diamond, agates, picture rock, and nearly 100 others" Who knows, maybe some nice stuff there. Good Luck, Don

Maryann: Come on out and we will take you! I talked to Tony and read the listing, it seems there will be a lot of equipemnt there, so if I go and can get some good deals on tumblers, and rock, I might fill up the truck and sell some stuff on here, if people are interested let me know, I don't want a basement full of tumblers. I can't imagine there are that many people into lapidary back here, so I am thinking we can get some good deals which I will be happy to pass on the deals to our members. Thanks for posting this listing!

my dad sold his business here in Fl and retired to Pa. ( usually the other way around) and he loves going to auctions there. To him its a game. Auctionzip.com is an awesome site. Most of these are in desolate areas and it depends on what is being sold as to the number of people show up. Like glass or ceetain furniture. The kids don`t want what the parents left they just want the money so they can live in the city away from all that.
Looking at those pictures of what is being sold is sad to me. What you see is a person lifetime of knicknacks and tools and hobby related stuff. Only he could appreciate his "clutter"
Good luck there and would love to hear what y`all got

This comment really struck a chord with me. Now I feel like I'd be picking a dead man's pocket if I attended this auction.

Having gone through the auction proces with my Mother in law and seeing her lifetime of antique and collectibles go for nothing is disheartening, but at least getting rocks there is the opportunity to keep his passion alive, through the people on here! I give a lot of stuff away, so if we are able to buy items inexpensively it is more to share with newbies and young ones going forward, and that is a good way to keep his interests going. I will post whatever we buy!

I totally agree, by someone who has the passion of lapidary it will carry on from his tools. Its better than getting thrown in the dump. All my equipment is old and I had to rebuild them. They work fine and produce some awesome stuff. Honor the guy buy getting his equip. and pass it on. Whn I get a new piece ,saw or tumbler or whatever I give away the old one I had to someone starting out and its goes on and on and on ( I hope).

JC: Exactly right! You are new, so you have not seen all the genorsity exchanged between members! The members on here are the nicest people I know, I really love some of them, and that is what it is about, helping one another, especially when money is tight for all right now! Amber
