I have a 10" frantom saw that I am using mineral oil in. Works great but after a cut unless I wait a long time after turning it off before opening the lid I get a cloud of oil mist coming out. Any tricks for a new slabber on how to stop this? Or do I have to live with it?

Live with it. At least you have a cover. I have a Lortone drop saw and you can't cover it. ken

Try Bardahl "No Smoke" or STP "Smoke Treatment". I'm not sure what's available in Canada, but these are found in auto parts stores and Walmart. There's probably something similar. It's about the consistency of honey.
You only need about an ounce or less in a 10" saw.

I usually get what you described when the oil gets a little low or gunked up with rock dust. The blade should be covered about 1/4 inch in oil with the saw off.I like to use a little bit more than that and add oil as I go along.10 inch saws dont hold much oil and need to be drained and cleaned frequently. The products Chuck wrote about should work fine also,if not available in your area you can get them online. I found the Bardahl "No Smoke" at Canadian Tire. I can`t believe what a difference that stuff makes. There was no noticable mist after adding it. Thanks for the advice Chuck.

No Smoke is great stuff, breathing that oil mist is NOT good business. Don't know what's in that stuff but it works like magic !

You're welcome Scott!
I'm glad it helped. I was just passing along something that I learned here and worked for me.

I thought rockbottom had a pick of a filter for oil mist but I can't locate it now. Very simple, just a muffin fan, bucket with lid, some filter media for the oil to collect on and some larger vacuum style hose.
