Now that I have recharged the three barrels and played with my saw a little (still trying to dry off) ... I tried to get back to wrapping ...
Well ... hopefully between now ... when I get the Gryphon, and my turn comes around for the Roaming Wrap .... I will have something of some semblance of a creative wrap for Chris (of all people) ... no pressure here!!
Wait .... someone else said that earlier in the roaming wrap thread .... ;D
As always Julie

I can relate to the "wet" part. I change t-shirts about every hour when I'm cutting.

Oh Julie..... don't worry about me!!!! I'm as new to this as you are, so I'm very easy to impress.... I still find all of this amazing, trust me... I'm sure I'll like whatever you do .... Hell, I'm jealous of your tumblers, saw, and all the other toys you have aquired over the last few months. All I have is my little " toy " tumbler, and that has been sitting quiet for over a month now.... Half way through my third batch I noticed that the barrel was wore almost all the way through, good thing I noticed though, before I ended up with a mess . So, now I don't even have a tumbler or anything. But as long as I have some stones, I'll keep wrapping ;D. Chris

Chris!! I have had the same problems with my Rolling Stones barrel. However .... I still use it. I fill up the barrel as usual and keep an eye on how much it is leaking from the sides. The leakage is minimal. Be patient ... I have discovered that for all stages if you let it spin, 2-3 hours later ... the grits and polish will actually plug the holes themselves as the leak dries. It's a grit or polish plaster (so to speak). It really does not leak as much or as long as you would think.

Chris, you can always set your tumbler in a cat pan or any dollar store cheap plastic pan in case it does let loose. Less mess that way. Someone had mentioned a long time ago about sealing holes in a barrel with the same stuff you coat tool handles in. Can't remember what it is called but it is the liquid stuff you dip the tools in to get a silicon or maybe it is rubber handle on it. I know what you mean Julie. I don't get as wet now since I turn the saw away from me and pull the stone towards me. All the spray goes to the fence. When I had it facing me, I was not too proud to wear the finest in garbage bags. Works pretty well! Fran

When I cut or use my flat lap I wear a lovely and stylish combination of a dollar store shower cap, safety glasses and a clear dollar store rain poncho. If I'm sitting the poncho bottom (and my legs) gets covered with a towel so the dripping gunk lands on teh old towel rather than me. I have a friend that laughed at me the first time she came over and saw me in my getup but when she joined in using the flat lap she quickly put on the spare poncho I had out for her! ;D
