I have a Lortone QT 12 and I know that it is the same unit as the QT 66 except for the barrels. I was thinking about getting two 6# barrels for diversity. The front end has the guide and the back end has the nylon washer. It would be easy enough to make another guide so my question is for those who have the QT 66 does the nylon washer wear on the metal lid on the back barrrel?
Thanks in advance for any input.

The two barrels tend to stick together so it is rare that the barrel ever rubs against the nylon washer. There is no need to make another guide.

The washer will wear out and can start to cut into your lid. I would recommend getting another guide for the back side. It doesn't cost much and well worth it in the long run.

I just put nylon washers on both ends and change them out when they wear too much....Mel

My QT66 runs with one guide just fine, as long as I keep the barrels butt-to-butt. I've got two running that way with no problems.

One things I have noticed with Lortone 6 lb and 12 lb barrels is the 6 lb is more efficient in terms of speed in grinding. I have both 12 and 6 pounders running side by side on the same tumbler tumbling the same mix of rocks and the 6 pounders need to be cleaned out every 1-2 weeks while the 12 pounders need cleaning every 2-4 weeks. It must be the narrow shape that forces the rocks together more...
