Here's some pics of my 2nd batch of tumbled rocks - these are mostly rocks my husband bought me from a local rock shop. Overall, I was pleased with how they turned out. It's great having a place like this to learn and share. KT

Is that pyrite in the bottom of the first picture? We have a couple chunks of pyrite and some hematite but it doesn't look to me like it would ever come out that smooth.

Looks like you have some wonderful shine on some of those! If some didn't shine well (I am only guessing because some look like they are softer stones), don't worry. Set them aside for a softer load and add them back in. That is the beauty of it all. You can redo when ever you choose. I think you have a great batch here! Fran

Pyrite? I really have no idea - hopefully I'll learn more about identification as I go along. I'm also still trying to figure out about the hardness of rocks and which ones will tumble best together. Ok... confession... right now I just kinda throw a bunch together and see what happens!! HaHa! Thanks KT

Nice tumbles KT! I like that blue one peeking out of the pile in the second photo.

Ktg, do a Google for "Mohs scale". That's the 1-10 scale which describes the hardness of stones. With a handful of basic stones, you can determine the approximate hardness of all of your stones. I hope that helps you!
