Well howdy all, ive only made a couple posts so far but just wanted to see how im doing with my equipment and what not. Its a Calaway lot-o-tumbler I just recently scored this at a waste not hardware store for $5 bucks and the thing looks practically brand new besides all the dust so i thought i should grab it.....I was going to use my reloading tumbler but thought five bucks why not....So i decided to get a real rock tumbler. I was also told vibratory tumblers where the way to go? is that correct? Any opinons on it? and where or what type of media i should use to start with? something i might be able to get locally? Thanks again...you guys rock!

Hi The good news You got a great machine there and Darned cheaper than I got mine !! a great bargain It will do a batch from Stage 2 in just over a week I had a batch off last night on 7days The Bad news You Guessed it (from stage 2) You realy need a rotary to get all the sharp corners of BROKEN rock BUt good news --- if you got beach stone (rounded) they will come up great in just over a week The vibes need a bit more attention than rotarys although they look small and soft they are Very Very agressive in stage 2 with 220 grit and produce a lot of Mud and need a few drops of water added regulary to keep them mobile NOTE They dont need water when operating only to be damp, and keept damp or glossy grey (This is a major mistake made by a lot of new operators) If you want a recepie and details of running one Email me john@matco.me.uk (I havent got the knack of adding docs to this rth site yet) I will be delighted to send you details Again you got a great bargain there. I got mine frome the rockshed heres the link so you can see what you have saved www.therockshed.com/tumbler1.htmlHave a good day Jack Yorkshire UK (Dont run without a full load this harms the springs)
