Hey everyone.... I haven't done a wrap in a couple weeks ( been working alot!!! ) and I just needed to post some pics . Here are some of the stuff I have found while at work over the last week or so. I think they are pretty interesting, but I don't know what any of it is.... If anyone has any ideas what any of them might be, feel free to chime in . This first group all have the same texture ( kind of smooth and waxy feeling ), and are all translucent ( a flashlight shines through them? ).... I broke the top-center one, just to see inside.... Dry... same rocks, wet... This next group has a mixture... The middle-left one looks like an agate and I'm pretty sure the middle-right right one is quartz... both very translucent.. The bottom two are like the first group, waxy but not very translucent.... And the top stone.... is just wierd ( is there petrified wood in Ohio? )... Dry... same stones wet... Finally, This last one is an interesting fossil, it's about 4" in diameter.... one side looks like a horn coral.... But the other side has a cavity filled with druzy ( actually every little hole in this is full of crystals, and there's lots of little holes, it sparkles like crazy in the sun )... better shot of the crystals.... Well, that's it..... if any of it looks familiar to anyone, I'd love to know what you think it might be.... And I'll get back to wrapping soon, I got lots of ideas ( but it seems like everyone I know want's a butterfly , Steve , :help: .... lol ;D).... Thanks for looking, Chris

Your bottom three in the first photo look like Raspberry and Yellow Aventurine. Really just colored Quartzite. If so, they are hard and will polish well.
Neat fossil! Looks like you are staring into the mouth of a spiney sea urchin.

You picked-up a lot of nice quartz based stones! Quartzite, chalcedony, agate, looks great, especially for stuff you just found while working! They should tumble nicely.

Agreed...mostly quartzite...it polishes up nice, just make sure not to mix it with other material past the rough stage...

Chris,
Much of it looks very similar to what I find here......quartz based.......if theres a bit of shimmery mica in them then they are aventurine. I find a lot of pink here. Many of them have a depth that will remind you of agate. Being quartz based they tumble nicely. Im always picking up pocketfuls of them for my tumblers.
I love the fossil!!!

That is an amazing fossil and maybe you should pm Mel and see what he thinks about it. I was thinking raspberry aventurine along with yellow but I didn't know if they just had it there in OH. I just tossed a couple of the flint Nodules that you sent me in the tumbler. Time will tell what they will look like when I am done with them. Fran
