Well went out today at low tide...made sure i was prepared to find a bundle of what ever....lol.... ;D Anyways ill let my pictures talk for me....was alot of fun...found a few cool thing but all and all...i think everything will end up in a tumbler eventually....out of everything like usually i can only identify one agate....LOL....but the rest are unique also. Ill number the pictures and if you know what something is please yell it out....THANKS AGAIN GUYS.....and have fun with the pictures. #1 (AGATES....lol.....one of em has a irridesence color to it when moved right way....hopefully it pops out better when i tumble em.) #2 (little crystal guys were everywhere. most pop out the back side also....so hopefully wheni tumble it more of the crystal stuff will be expsed and ill be able to see the caves better.) #3 (RANDOM ROCKS.....cool shapes and what not) #4 (only one i found that looked like it....but it was different so i had to grab it......thought it would look good polished up.) #5 (Dont know what it is but this one looks almost like an agate but probably isnt and well you can see the color. light shines through it) #6 (wish the color and shapes came out better these were almost my favorite) #7 (these were cool...had little mouths on them...the big one is a dark colored rock with white mouths and purple centers) #8 (little red mouth one)

Don't know what you found there, except that they are pretty stones, I really like the ones in #7! Amber

Jay, You will generally be hard pressed to get an ID on beach rocks from most people. There is just such a huge mix of rock that is found near water that have traveled who knows how far and they can be most anything. I am a stickler for ID's, I obsess about it, and yet my beach/river rock is generally never ID'd. Your best bet is to learn the basics and give those rocks a basic ID such as quartz, jasper, agate etc. Learn the Moh's scale as it is an invaluable tool for learning to ID minerals. With basic objects you can test each rocks hardness and at least get an idea as to what it is. geology.about.com/library/bl/blmohsscale.htmShan

I think #5 might be quartz mixed with chlorite....still trying to figure out the rest. and #6 might be a brechetted type of jasper....not sure but if you look into the confetti pieces there are little tinny circles and dots everywhere....like i said these pictures dont do justice...but i am only guessing.
