Hello All!! My good husband gave me a vibe for my BD, but I've yet to use it as all my experience is with rotaries up to this point. I've read Randy's excellent post on his method and plan to follow that as my guideline, but the one question I can't seem to find an answer for is whether there is any strict rule to filling the bowl as there is with the rotary? The vibe is a Raytech 5, which holds about 4 pounds, but came with little in the way of instruction. I have a batch which came out of pre-polish (rotary) and would like to try this batch in the polish process on the vibe.
TIA!!

2/3 to 3/4 full seems to work best....I use a filler like plastic tile spacers if I don't have enough material to get to this level....

Thank you Mikes!! I don't think I have enough to make that level, but do have plastic pellets to use as filler, would those work just as well as the plastic spacers?

they should do just fine....if you still don't have enough, you can buy a big bag of the tile spacers at any hardware store pretty cheap...

Tile spacers are the frugal person's version of plastic pellets. They serve the same purpose, just as well, but cost much less.

Thank you Mikes and Michael John!! I really appreciate the tip on the spacers, had no idea. I have to run to Lowe's today so that is now on the list.
I did start the batch with the plastic pellets, and at this point, I just hope I'm doing everything right, it's very different from using the rotaries.

yeah, it takes a bit of practice, but you'll master it in no time at all....
important note on the tile spacers/pellets....once you are done with a certain grit, use new spacers, do not use the same ones for the next finer grit...just set them aside in a bag (labeled so don't forget what grit you used them in) for the next time you use that grit. When you get done, you'll have a bag of of spacers for use in 120/200, a bag of spacers for 500, a bag for polish, ect....this will help prevent any potential carryover of grit to the next stage....
