This is one of the nicer and larger Crazy Lace slabs I have, but I think I will end up cutting it. I played with it in photoshop this evening. (click for full size) Can't pick a favorite. What's yours?

That's a lot of nice cabs for just one slab.
Could you make a tutorial for your photoshop process? I'd like to try it out but I have no clue how to do it.

Sure. I will put an initial tip sheet together this weekend. You can rotate the picture and then select an oval and copy it to a new picture with a dark background.
There are additional steps to allow selection of other shapes -(even to make templates)-, to produce the slightly rounded edges, to correct the color after a slab is scanned. There is additional knowledge about rotating the picture OR the template. These will all take a bit more effort to illustrate.
But, lets start with the oval.

Beautiful slab! Hard to pick favorites, indeed. Mine are first row-first from right (egg) and 2nd row-2nd from left (trapese).
Looking at you positionning of the cabs on the slab, you must have a very good trim saw: so small clearance between them, I wouldn't dare to try cutting them.

Now I'll have to find my photoshop disk and get it installed on this computer.

Do you have PhotoShop or PhotoSHop Elements - both can do mostly the same thing for virtual cabbing, but the menus are different

That is a very pretty slab but I think it will be hard to get all of those cabs out of it. Hard to get the saw through those little spaces unless you have a diamond bandsaw. That may be tricky too. Good luck! Fran

Good luck! Fran Some adjustments might be needed. The ovals especially might get a bit smaller. They are the afterthought anyway. Also some of the bolo may get reduced by 1/16 inch in each direction. I did reduce one just a bit in order to get the picture cut. I would start with the ones I want most and which can be gotten to the easiest. I also do plan to get another band saw next year. I traded away my Inland band saw 2 years back, but I have been looking closely at the C-40.

Awesome slab, Deb. My fav is the second row, third one in (to the right of Adrian's fav). Virtual cabbing looks fun! Jo

I never tried that but I don't have Photoshop. Always enjoy seeing you do this Daniel.
