Looks like you have the grit and water right. Since the rock action is still way down in the bowl, go ahead and add more rocks. If you need a little more grit and water for them, that's fine since you now know how a batch should look. The general idea is to tumble as much rock as possible per batch. If you have a scale, you can weigh the material for future batches to match the capacity of the tumbler.
Ummm ... still no star in the movie.

Good movie, but needed popcorn.
Ok, You're starting to get the proper action, but still need more rock (up to about an inch below the top of the bowl in the center). Looks like you might need to double the amount of rock you have in there, believe it or not. (someone with that exact tumbler can check me on that)
Secondly, still too wet. The slurry sloshing in the bottom is my clue. Adding more rock might take care of that extra slurry. You won't need to add water for a while, if at all, for the rest of this run.
When it's the proper moisture, the slurry should be all in the coating of the rocks, too wet and it puddles down in the bottom.

Okay .... just checked the batch and the slurry is like paste. It is coating all of the rocks and is not pooling.
The subduction action is going great!!!
I added a pretty good amount of equal or greater than mohs with some spectralite earlier today. When I rinsed them off before putting them into the bowl, I found browns and blues and oh my goodness! What a great rock!!
So .... now .... I am going to check by looking only through the lid and will let it go at least until Monday evening ... then will recharge as is in Randy's instructions for another 2 days in 120/220.
As always guys .... my humble thanks and my very open mind to all help!!!

Deeptime .... I would honestly say ..... even at this early point .... get a vibe.
It is a pain in the ass right now and noisy beyond anything I have had so far ... including my little beginner Rolling Stones tumbler .... but .... it should get ... I should get better at it as time goes by.
And since I working with very limited space .... I do not have the luxury of building a sound proofing container.
I have to wash clothes periodically .... HELLO! ;D

You doin' great! Now, keep an ear on it and learn the sound of good tumbling for each grit. You'll want to keep an eye on it by keeping your ears on it, if that makes any sense, LOL. If they start to bind up or slow down really slow, give a couple squirts of water and they should speed up again. In this first round, alot of the outer crust is exfoliating and becomes part of the slurry, fast. Sometimes you'll have to rinse and start over because the slurry is just too thick and the action is all bogged down. Adding water doesn't help anymore. The second round should behave much better for you after all that outer layer is cleaned off. Oh, what fun you will have!

Oh, BTW. What I learned by following Randy's instructions, and from what I've learned about Randy, is that Randy runs HARD rocks. He runs all the hardest jaspers, agates and chalcedonies, and doesn't mess much with softer rocks in his vibe. The harder stuff will run cleaner and there is less bogging down (unless some softer material sneaks in). So, I guess what I'm saying is that this is all normal for the rest of us who don't cut 2 tons of the hardest rock into a gazillion pendants and then run them perfectly in 12 days. Each type of rock will run a little bit differently, and we just get good at listening and adjusting to keep the action productive.

Julie, Here's a youtube vid that shows proper action and level. My memory could be wrong, but I think someone on this board made the vid and posted it some months back. Anyway, hope this helps.

Getting movie IV uploaded ... Added more rock, small stones and some lakers.
I also noticed that the YouTube video of the vibe ... the vibe contains mostly ... if not all cabs. Is it possible that the shapes of the rocks/cabs in any one batch makes a difference?
I also need to do something about the noise ... it really is bad.
As always ...

Yes Julieshapes do matter
A while back some one hada lot of slabs and they stuck together
Amixed batch is good both in size and shape Anything to help the rotation
I dont think you got your machine full enough especialy if its noisey
Nutranut 's Link to that Utube Vidio is good the action and the load shows how it should move look closley and you will see a good mixed batch of shapes and sizes.
I can see your about there keep going

Agreed with the others....add more rocks, minimum 2/3 of the way full....
Jack is right, the proper level of rocks will quiet it down a bit. My vibe is bolted to a concrete block with a thin piece of particle board between it and the vibe, and a piece of foam rubber between the block and the concrete floor, it makes virtually no noise at all except a mild humming sound....maybe try that....

Again I'm late but,,,,
If I'm hearing and see what I think I am you're not rinsing the rocks off enough between re-loading the tumbler.
The left over gray slurry acts as a cushion and doesn't let the grit do it's job.
Also if you add just a VERY small amount of powdered laundry soap before adding the grit ,let the vibe run and then add grit the soap helps the grit to stick to the rocks and makes clean-up much easier.
