Here is the fourth vignette .... My batch is not moving as fast as the You Tube and I really do not think it will. Anyway ....

Add MORE rock ... lots more ... and put the pellets back in or you're going to have more chipping and fracturing. The bowl's only about half full. Fill it to at least 3/4. That's why your rocks are "hopping". The unit is designed to work properly with a full load.

Great video!
Yes, I agree about the pellets and a fuller load.
But that creme seemed a bit thick for a new load. You might try just one spoon of grit and turn it on. Then sprinkle additional spoons, alternating with spritzing, until you can see grit on the rocks, but they are still moving pretty fast. Careful not to get too much water. If it pools in the bottom, you will see little drops popping up, and the grit will wash off the rocks.
Also, best to cut you teeth on good hard material and a batch of all the same rock. Self collected rock often has softer pieces - especially if you have some beach or fiver stones. These rocks make mud real fast. After you are real comfortable with the machine, and its motion, then tackle mixed hardnesses and softer rocks.

Julie, This batch looks a little dry to me. Add a few squirts of water and that should help. The best thing I have used for cushioning in my vibe has been tile spacers. I can't remember who said it on this board but I ran right out and got some from home depot and they work great! I have two sizes that I mix and when I use them, they are marked for that grit and put in a plastic container to use with the next load at that grit. It will really help prevent as much breakage as you may get otherwise. My vibe is shaped a bit like yours and the action is not as fast on these so don't worry about that. Fran

Fran, that was me who brought-up the tile spacers. The locals here use them cuz everybody's piss poor, and will do anything to save a buck LOL. They work just as good as plastic pellets but at a fraction of the cost.
I'm glad that you followed my advice regarding keeping the spacers separated for various grit stages. That ensures that the spacers won't cross-contaminate your batches.

Need more rocks and a couple spritzes of water. Try to get the level about 3/4 of the way up the side, or up to an inch below the middle silver washer. Looking better Julie. You're getting there!
