That's a whole variety from one place! The mosses are really colorful and what are the black ones? I never thought the white agates would be from there but it seems to have anything and everything there! Great shine too! Fran

Hmmm ... okay ... these pics spurred some questions for me ...
You have a lot of chalcedony there. Now, when you're collecting at WWR, is the chalcedony more-or-less scattered on the ground throughout the collecting areas, but you have to dig/pry for the highly-colored stuff up in the rocks? OR did you have to dig/pry the chalcedony out of the rocks, too?
The reason I ask is that, at "Agate Road", all of the collecting I've done has purely consisted of simply picking everything up off of the ground. Chalcedony is all over the place, but the nice banded agate is much more scarce. Since I can basically just fill my truck by walking along and throwing the material in the truck bed, I haven't yet bothered with climbing the surrounding hills to attempt to tap the probable sources. But, since Steve and I found this place, I've wondered if the stuff I'm picking-up might be junk compared to what's still embedded in the rocks up in the hills.

Nice batch. Neat orbs in some of those too. I hadn't realized so much clear chalcedony was present at Woodward. The beds I hunted seem to run more towards the colored material.....Mel

Michael John,
All of those rocks were surface collected. They're just all over the place. Including the colorful ones. The chalcedony are quite easy to find. There's a lot of them and because they are white they tend to stand out more. No digging or prying whatsoever. Many times a you will see the tip of a rock and then all you do is poke around it with your finger or a rock pick and it comes out of the dirt.
Frane,
I don't know what the heck those black ones are, but the story as to how we got them is cool. Dorothy (Silverlass) and her husband Don (Mailman) were out on the east side of the ranch. Well it's well known that Dorothy is not quite the rockhound, but does love being out there. As she was sitting on her posterior against some rocks she picked up one right from where she was at and in her unique Bostonian accent called out, "Hey Dwan, whut's this?" Don knew they were on to something good. He collected a bunch of that stuff, and let everyone else know where to find it. They turned out to be quite nice agates of some sort.

Nice batch and shine Condor!
I'm glad to see that the pitted and vuggy stuff that I collected there is par for the course.
