I have various thickness templates and to mark the girdle, I put the cab on top of the templates, put a sharp pencil flat on a table and rotate the cab around the pencil point.

KAP: Now that is the best thing! I must order one, I try to keep a sharpie steady and my lines are so uneven, this looks like a great tool! Amber

I use Don's templates and girdle marker. Sure helped me as a newbie. You can see what I did Cabs area. Others think its not needed but it surely helps me. I pre cut and then mark girdle and top cut now I dop with wax.
