I have a Thumlers UV10(the lighweight model used for polishing brass shell casings) and wondered if it was possible to use it for rocks? Has anyone done it? What would you have to do?

The Industrial (rock model) has thicker bowl and more powerful motor. I don't know if the counterweight is different or the springs.

Contact Thumlers. They'd be the ones who'd be able to tell you for sure.
An option is to sell it and buy the right one. From what I've seen, tumblers sell REAL well on eBay.

Tumlers will tell you that they don't warranty the brass tumblers if used for rocks. I'm pretty sure the bowl is a different plastic compound and will not hold up well to the heavy/rough exercise that rocks and grit will have compared to brass casings and walnut or corncob media.

Thanks for your replies. I was hoping someone may have done this already; seems odd that noone has.
MJ is probably right and selling it and buying the right equipment seems like the best way to go.
I thought it might just be a case of getting a better bowl and adjusting the mechanism.
I conrtacted Al Thumler a while back and he had no solution for me.
