Now that school is nearly over, yes I have 2 more classes even though I graduated last week, I'm starting to give some thought to finally doing a combined website with my cabs and woodturnings. The contest is pretty simple, give me a name that combines both of my passions. There will be several prizes handed out. First off will be my favorite, second will be Amber's favorite, third will be for the funniest (judged by Amber and I together) and the last one will be by member voting from a list of ones Amber and I like. Enter as many names as you want and if you give a serious one submit a funny one too, we all love to laugh. The prizes will be the VCR tape sized FRB filled appropriately for you whether you are a tumbler or cabber. The ending time for submission will 11:59 pm on July 6. This is my first contest here believe it or not so I hope it turns out to be a fun one.

Very interesting contest, I bet you will have a bunch of great and funny names. First of all, I wish you good luck with your new site. The first name that pops in my mind is also the way your hobby evolved from wood turning to lapidary. "WOODS TURNING INTO ROCKS"A funny one? Well, related on your recent graduation, it could be "Woods & Rocks Engineering" Adrian PS. With so many prizes, do you also reward the first entry? ;D Just kidding!

Well, if it were mine I would name it
Wood Then And Now
But since Amber says your wood leaves something to be desired, I don't know.....

Curt: I love wood now!!!You, Adrian, Catman, Kap, Wyobrian all made me wood lovers with nice stuff you sent to cab! Cabbing wood is pretty nice! You get it wet and it takes a nice shine! And yes Tony's petrified wood leaves a little to be desired, however his other wood is most desirable! As in his turning wood!!

Hey hon: I think the winner by voting should get a woodturning instead of rocks, so they can see your wonderful wood!

**Elementals in Wood and Stone** would be my serious entry. but i may come up with another after some thought.
"Turn One, Grind One" would be my humorous name. again, i'll sleep on this one.
thanks for the contest!!

First off .... what is wood turning? I have heard of wood burning.
Second .... here is my shot at it ...
"As the wood turns, so are the rocks of our lives"
Hey .... I thought it was cute!!
As always ... Julie

I'm going to stay out of this one. Its not good for a guy to brag about his wood. ;D
Julie, my woodturning website is now gone so I can't direct you there. Try searching in google for it. Its done on a lathe where the wood spins around and hand tools are applied to make the shape. Think salad bow, candlestick or spindle although that is just the tip of the iceberg as to what can be done.
Amber, a bowl, hmmmmm, I'll have to think about that. Its a good idea I just have to budget my time. I have gifts to make for our trip too. If the winner of the popular vote is willing to wait I could certainly make one.

As an owner of four of Tony's turned pieces (Have I told you how much I love my mushrooms!?!), I can't wait for him to get a site launched! Hmm - a name. Burls & Rough - kinda sounds like a supply store for his two hobbies.

I own a number of Tony's wood turnings and they are insanely beautiful.......the mushrooms being my favorite. I wont tell y'all what my mom's nickname is for Tony because of those darn mushrooms LOL. Glad to see you finally have time to do a combined website. My guess is "STICKS AND STONES". Simple, catchy without too many syllables for a URL and it describes your two hobbies.
