I just got a bunch of stuff from Joanne (naturenut) today and I had to try out some of the moonstone. First off let me say she has been holding out on all of us who have never seen moonstone before. Sure she has posted pictures of her cabs but pictures don't do this material justice. In pictures it looks shiny, and has a kind of interesting pattern. Like these I took of the ones I made tonight. Sure it looks OK right. OK but not great. Now check out what this stuff looks like when you have it in your hand with a video. No more pictures of stuff made out of moonstone Jo. I want video from now on . Thanks again for the great rocks. ;D

Great looking cabs. Looks like she sent you some nice moonstone. Anything with a flash just doesn't show up in a picture. Your vid looked great!

WTG Sas! You made that material electric and alive. Beautiful shapes and shine on that for sure! Didn't even think of video, but you had a genius idea there (duh Jo, LOL). I've posted vids of Tony wire-wrapping, my dog, and Randy... but not my moonstone, what was I thinkin? LOL
I slabbed a bunch yesterday. Each piece is so entirely different, always amazes me. You should see me too. I'll make a cut, turn off the saw, go sit down with it in the sun, wipe it off on my shirt and study it as it dries to check that I'm getting just the right angle on it. LOL. I look like a psycho sittin' there turning the rock around and lookin' so hard at it! LOL. My neighbor came out onto his deck to chuckle at me.
You really brought that moonstone to life, a credit to your craft Sas. WTG! Jo

Yeah, Tony. The reflectivity of this type of chatoyancy causes light to bounce and detracts the capture of details in the cab. Real hard to do but I've seen members do a darn good job catching it in still pics (yourself included) and we had no idea the contortions they went through to get them! LOL.

That a really fine fine job on the cabs, Scott And the video is an excellent idea!! Joann finds wonderful material & was kind enough to send me pieces I’m looking forward to working with it This technology is so great for our craft And the video shows so many other facets of this stone Heck I been trying to steady my hands for still shots Best for me to let my hands shake and leave the camera still in video mode Always more than one way to capture a cab

That's a nice cab. Moonstone is a really attractive material and definitely a challenge to photograph. I didn't know you could load video on Photobucket, very cool. Dan

Just load them to photobucket the same way as a picture Dan.

Yep, they just upgraded Photobucket to handle vids recently. You just use the IMG Code as you would normally and it pops right in.

What a real pleasure watching that video and seeing on the board what is seen in person. You really did justice in the way you showed off Jo's moonstone.
