I don't know if any of you experience this, and, if so, is this normal?
When I'm doing a batch in the 120/220 grit, the gray goo always seems to leak out between the top of the bowl & the lid. So much leaks out that it runs down the side of the bowl, underneath the bowl, down the vibe itself, & sometimes onto the floor.
I employed a little common sense and the following variations with no such luck:
* Using less grit & water (even though I don't think I am using too much in the first place.
* Use less rocks.
* Thoroughly clean the bowl and lid (especially where the two come into contact) with a toothbrush.
* Move the vibe to a new location in case it wasn't level.
* Remove any rocks that may have been too big, therefore getting wedged & stuck at the bottom of the bowl. (the bowl is shaped like a doughnut and gets more narrow at the bottom)
I notice that the rocks & ceramic pellets seem to congregate to one side of the bowl when running, so maybe that's pushing the slurry up and over the edge of the bowl? That's another mystery that puzzles me - why the rocks & pellets move to one side of the bowl.
For example, I would open the lid when running, and the rocks & pellets would be more on the side closest to me. I tried rotating the vibe 180 degrees to see if the rocks would still go to the same side (maybe indicating an unlevel surface), but that didn't happen that way. They actually started congregating to the side farthest from me.
For the record, when the bowl leaks, the rock level is not always lopsided to one side, so it has to be something other than (or in addition to) this.
I'm worried that the goo that leaks out will be a good portion of the grit, and make the process less effective.
Thanks, Erica
