Beautiful! I'm a fancier of cacti but boy you're right, some of them flower so fast it's easy to miss. I really like the Mammilarias because the flowers come off in whorls and the bloom period last a bit but the flowers on ones like yours are much more showy.....Mel

Wow! That is beautiful.
That reminds me of a time when a neighbor was going out of town. She could tell that her night-blooming cereus buds were about to bloom and she asked my dad to try to get some pictures, since it also only blooms once a year, for one night only.

That is a beautiful pic and great light play on the flower between the shade and the sunlight. It must feel good in the years that you are able to see it in full bloom.
