Great idea for utility and beauty! I've never seen gemstone picks for sale anywhere and there are so many neat materials to choose from too. The bloodstone is my favorite too.....Mel

I know some musicians and just have to try my hand at making a few of these for them.
I am asuming you are using an actual guitar pick for your template shape to preserve the scale.
How thin do you manage to get these? I don't make cabs, but can cut thin preforms and polish them, so hopefully I will come close.
Thanks for posting a very cool idea. Ever think about making some classic guitar bidy shapes (Telecaster, Flying V, Les Paul)?

Do you ever use these for guitar picks? just wondering how they hold up. They are so pretty I would hate for them to be damaged. Fran

I don't play but my friends tell me that they hold up fine and they have a great sound. Just don't drop them on a cement floor. Thanks for all the nice coments.........Dale

Hey Bush, I know nothing about guitars. Is the sound quality only apparent on acoustic guitars? Everyone I know plays electric.

They sound good on all string instruments. So I'm told, I don't play myself.

The guitarists that I've made picks for say they really like them, but they usually were playing with really heavy picks before, anyone playing with a light pick probably won't be happy with the stiffness of stone picks, but those that like a stiff pick tend to love stone.
Everyone has also told me that thinner is better, so cutting them thin enough has been the challenge for me.
And like Dale said- don't drop them on a cement or tile floor!!
