I am always looking for things to do with polished slabs. I came up with this idea after seeing this night lite base at ACE Hardware. It's automatic so I don't even have to remember to turn it on. ;D I cut the top off of the plastic light cover and glued my polished slab onto the plastic base. It is real easy to do and is a lot better looking than the original. www.gametrails.com/images/070209 00.jpg[/img] www.gametrails.com/images/070209 01.jpg[/img] Enjoy. chasfire

WOW! Double Wow! You took a simple thing and made it extrodinary. Just 2 questions. Does the slab get hot from the bulb and what kind of glue did you use.

sitnwrap:
The slab is far enough away from the bulb that there is no heat transfer, so the slab stays cool.
I actually cut a small quarter inch piece of wood to glue onto the plastic base and then glue the slab to the edge of the wood. The wood has a semi-circle cut in it to go around the bulb and keep the slab a decent distance from the bulb. I used liquid nails clear, but I think any glue(super glue, 2 part epoxy glue, etc.) would work.

What a great piece! Now you need a side view, though.

I really like this idea too and have mentally filed it in my "things I want to make" category. Really great job! Can we see it from the side?

Thanks for the comments. Here is the side view. As you can see the piece of wood is glued to the plastic base and the slab glued to the wood. It really is quite simple to make. www.gametrails.com/images/070409 03.jpg[/img] chasfire
