It's not done yet, but I thought I'd show what I've been working on for my sister's wedding necklace. It will hopefully be finished tomorrow. I'm waiting on the pearls for the rest of the necklace, and I have just a bit more work to do on the centerpiece yet. I figured after I admitted that I've been avoiding it, I might as well show you that I stopped avoiding it. The setting as it is right now (still need to add one more prong, then join the three pieces) The setting as it will look once all the stones are in place. And that, my dear friends, is what I've been afraid of!

Wow, that's completely a higher level! I have no doubts it will come out gorgeous. My only concern is it would surely eclipse the wedding dress Adrian

Wow Ronda!!!! What is it made of? Fused wire or ? If it is wire is it gold or? What is the heating temp in order to fuse? Sorry for all the questions or if I am totally wrong about your process but if it is fused wire I would love to try that

It's actually soldered wire. The individual pieces started life as 22g sterling silver square wire. I hammered the sections into alternating flats - I'm sure there's a more technical term for this - to accent a broad base at one end and then a thin section at the other. After that, I just soldered the pieces together. I purchased the tube settings (and the stones).
Temperature - I'm not really sure what temperature exactly it was. In fact, there would have been a couple temperatures involved, as I used two different solders (75% and 70%). They were just heated until the solder flowed. I have an oxy/acetylene Little Torch, if that helps any.
See - I told you I needed lessons!

I think your sister is going to flip! Your design is beautiful and when you set the stones and add the pearl strands, it will be breathtaking! Makes me think of the high end stuff you see in bridal magazines! No joke, that is exceptional! Fran

Girl I can't see you afraid of anything, maybe not your favorite thing to do. But it is going to be beautiful, one of the things she will be passing down to her children or grandchildren. Great job, Donna

Wow wow wow Akansan!
And Wow again - what a terrific piece of metal work, really stepping up to the best Buddy, those are going to be astonishing. That's a professional job! I can't wait to see what it looks like finished, and it's guaranteed to set off the Wedding outfit completely. Very tasteful, but eyecatchingly good! Thanks for sharing your fears, we enjoyed seeing your talents!
Cheers,
Harry.
