No prize offered here. Just wanted to poll public opinion to determine which RTH'er contributing to Tony Terner's naming contest has given evidence that they have the dirtiest mind.

Good one Scott. Amber and I had picked out a naughty one for a prize already but maybe I'll throw a small box in here for the winner.

Hardwood trees are angiosperms, plants that produce seeds with some sort of covering. This might be a fruit, such as an apple, or a hard shell, such as an acorn or hickory nut. Softwoods are gymnosperms (conifers) with "naked" seed. These plants have seeds that fall to the ground with no covering. Pines, firs and spruces, which grow seeds in cones, fall into this category. In conifers, seeds are released into the wind once they mature. This spreads the plant's seed over a wide area. So despite the infatuation here with hard wood it seems just as likely that there's some soft wood in the workshop occasionally. So to be clear and fair the names should have been stuff like "Tony's got hard wood, and sometime soft wood but that happens to the best of us on occasion". Not to start any ugly rumors about Tony.

I think that is my job, to turn the soft wood into hard wood Even with great strides in genetic engineering what you're suggesting that you're capable of is beyond limits of horticultural science as we know it today. You cannot convert a gymnosperm into an angiosperm. If that doesn't provide sufficient innuendo fodder I also finished reading Herman Melville's Moby Dick last weekend about a giant, white sperm whale. I didn't like it by the way. The main characters largely disappear in the last half of the book and it frequently diverts from the story to spend long chapters detailing the minutia of the mid-19th century whaling industry.

I don't see a way to close out the poll but I think it's time to award thunder69 the winner for dirtiest mind. Based on the responses it may be a miscarriage of justice though. I think the only thing that kept Amber from winning was the fact that she was barred from the original contest. Regardless, congrats thunder69.
