does anybody know where to find green pet wood in the west? maybe OR or UT? we're in N. CA (s. of the OR border, near Yreka), but was hoping to find some when we leave here in the fall to go to AZ for the winter. any hints? ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Jo

Hampton Butte, Oregon has green wood replacement casts.
Mcdermitt, Nevada has Gary Green bog wood, which is a misnomer as it is really jasper which is usually made up of petrified mud. There are alot more colors there than just green, but the green is predominant. It has also been named Larsonite by a guy whose last name was Larson, but it is basically the same stuff.
There is also some Green wood in Arizona which is a chromium replacement, but I do not know any of the locations.
Good luck hunting..............Tony

The green chromium wood in Az came from Holbrook. It's my understanding that it has been all mined out. Jamie had some, but I think I bought her out.

not sure if we'll have time to go for it. all depends on a lot of factors in politics & gold mining here. is it on your website? how much do you want for it? jo

Interesting thread !!!! I just found this chunk yesterday I think its petrified wood? I could be mistaken Its certainly is dense & heavy like wood. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v497/stedmo/f2f2f2f2/petrifiedfind.jpg) I found it in an unlikely spot & if its wood I wouldn’t know how it got there unless there is plenty more if that makes any sense Anyway it was found in a large open field/desert area on 19th Ave north of Pinnacle Peak Road east side side of the road in blazing hot Phoenix AZ~~

Kinda hard to tell from the picture Deep.
jo, I don't have any on my website, I keep planning on putting more stuff on there, but life seems to get in the way. There is so much stuff out there that I could never get it all on the website, and also, alot of it I have no idea what it is besides a pretty rock. I can go out to the pile and find you a piece or two and take pictures if you like.
Have a great day...............Tony

I went out to the pile today and found a couple of pieces End cut of Hampton Butte ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/100_1746Medium.jpg) small piece of Gary Green ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/100_1747Medium.jpg) limbcast replacement, looks to be white or clear on the inside though ![](http://i188.photobucket.com/albums/z229/catmandewe/100_1750Medium.jpg) Here is a piece that is in my driveway, too big to send, I think it weighs around 70 pounds, but I took a pic of it to show you what it looks like. Tony, we know you didn't take a pic of it to show what it looks like. You took it just to be mean. The rest looks great. What do you want for this stuff? Dare I ask?
Thanks much, Jo

Thanks much, Jo Make me an offer, I have no idea what it is worth. Whatever you think, then cut it in half for the RTH discount. As far as the big piece, if you want to pay the shipping, I will sell it, but it will not fit in a flat rater. ( I will miss it though, it has been my doorstop for about a year now) Tony

I wouldn't have a clue of what to offer. I'd love that big piece too. I'd much rather you set a price. how much to these things weigh?

Holy Guacamole!!!! I just checked ebay to see what they are worth, OMG!!! A 12+ lb piece is up for $165 BIN OBO, wow!
My end cut is just shy of 13 lbs so you can have it for 30 bucks. I was way off on the weight of my door stop, it only weighs 36 lbs. I have moved it enough times and I was sure it was 70! Maybe some of my parts must be startin to wear out? I can't decide a price on that one. Let me check my big chunks of wood pile to see if I can find another one that will fit into a flat rater, I would hate to see you have to pay outrageous shipping fees on that one. I think I am gonna have to spend some time out at the rock pile with a weedeater this weekend. Gettin hard to find the piles!
Have a great day.....................Tony

I took care of my rock piles by getting some old tires. I fill up the tire with my rocks, then put another on top & fill that up too. At least the rocks don't sink into the grass. But, they're not so easy to go thru, but not bad if you only put one kind in a tire stack.
what if you cut it up? will it fit in the box then? can we wait til Oct? reason is that my slab saws are in our winter digs in AZ. we'll be down there in Oct. I could pay you now tho.
can we do a full FRB? let me know how you want to handle all these questions.
Thanks so much Tony, Jo
