I'm afraid that the recent stand I have taken against a new member may have affected a climate that could discourage new membership. In an effort to rehabilitate my image I am starting this thread providing the basis for which any new member can expect a bright future of collaboration, education, and entertainment.
1. Proof-read and hit the spell check button before you post. If you see something you don't like after the fact, edit the post. Don't hit delete as only your post will disappear and all the responses will remain. It gets confusing.
2. Except for the "Life, the Universe, and Everything Else" section this forum is just for rocks and minerals.
3. Stay on point. Keep your response on the topic in the thread or at least on the other responses on the the thread.
4. Be modest. If your posts come off as authoritative or pompous it is a big turn off. There are very talented, highly skilled people here who have been in the hobby for decades and have been contributing to this forum for years. People from all walks of life who have forgotten more about rocks, minerals, and lapidary arts than I will ever know.
5. Try to maintain your sense of humor. There is a good bunch of folks on here and they like to have fun. It can be difficult at times with the hot topics on Life, the Universe and Everything Else but try anyway.
6. Be honest. There are few, if any, children on this forum. In fact, there is a healthy collection of coots, geezers, codgers, and old duffers here and if you talk any smack, you will get called out on it.
[[Please feel free to add tips or modify my suggestions.]]
