Pretty little green buggers, aren't they? Maybe a bracelet? Border for a picture frame? They'll look good whatever you decide to do with them.

Oh how pretty! Just gotta love 'em!
You could drill some and string them. They'd make a killer gem tree.

Beautiful Peridot! How did you get them to turn out so well? For some reason, I never thought that they would tumble like that! Tips if you don't mind please. ;D Fran

Thanks for the compliments!
Scottyh -- I got the rough a couple years ago from a rock shop in Globe or Miami, Arizona, while I was on vacation. They had a 5 gallon bucket of peridot rough and you just scooped out as much as you wanted. It was $20/lb I think, which is expensive, but a lot cheaper than you see it on ebay for decent rough (at least what I've seen). The store is near where they mine the peridot, so they probably get a good price on it? After I ran them through 60/90 I high-graded them to get rid of the really occluded stones, so I probably threw out about 1/3 of the original stones. Anyway, I forget the name of the shop, but it was right beside the highway. Had a lot of great rough there. When I look on google, the only rock shop I see in Globe is Copper City Rock Shop, but I don't think that was the name of the place I stopped at. It seemed like a pretty low key operation, so I doubt they have a website. But if in the area, definitely worth checking out.
Frane -- I just used them as small-end filler for a batch of similar hardness material. The rest of the barrel was mostly ocean jasper (pictures coming soon), plus some moss agates, rutilated quartz, etc. Since the peridot is so small to begin with, all of these just ran one week in 60/90, then I removed them until the rest of the rough was finished in 60/90, then added the peridot back for the other stages. The rest of it was a week in 120/220, 11 days in 500F, then 3 weeks in aluminum oxide polish.

I have no suggestions for the gift for your daughter, but they sure are beautiful! I'm sure she will treasure it forever!
