Man, that's some mind blowin' stuff Randy! I think the stuff from Jamie in pic #8 is Gary Green, and pic #11 is sagenite from Sheeps Crossing. The "Don't know what this it, but it's cool!" in pic #18 is palm root, and yes it's VERY cool! Mel could tell you where it's from (Bakersfield maybe?)
Awesome!

Lovem' all, but the three slabs from Jamie really rock! Are you sketching your preforms free-hand or using templates? Karock

I know what you mean Randy. Sometimes it is so satisfying to just cut slabs! You really have a bunch there and it all looks great! Love the shapes you have drawn! My plan for tomorrow is to try out a new saw blade and get through some tough stuff! Fran

Yup, that palm root does look a lot like the classic Edison Palm root from the Bakersfield area....Mel

What wonderful slabs! I especially liked seeing the choices you made for forming cabs to cut. Since I am brand new to the hobby, this was an educational experience. Thank you!

Karok- I freehand everything that I do, it's more fun that way and I can utilize the patterns much better.

You've been busy lately! A lot of cool stuff!
I like the first cuts from Michael John; Michael, if you read this here's a sugestion: the look of your rough rocks is not always very attractive for an unexperienced eye, so when you post a batch of rocks that you have for sale, you should post a picture or two of some slabs or even cabs. I know you don't cab but I'm sure the persons you send your boxes to are kind to send you back some pictures of their work.

Thumbs up another incredible post, with a huge variety of rock, you somehow make all of your slabs look great, is there a lot of studying the rock before cutting, or should I clamp it in the vice as best as I can. I am not sure about gripping irregular shapes and often I seem to be only able to clamp in one direction. Any Suggestions?? ...ppork

Thanks y'all! Porky, I always study the rock a little, but you still don't know what you're gonna get until you cut in to it. I always like to cut the end off, turn the rock 90 deg. and cut that end off as well. I look at the two sides and the one that I like best is the one that I slab. These are all fist-sized pieces that I cut on my ten inch saw, I did all of these by hand. (Honest... Frane, Amber, and Tony Turner have seen this in person ;D ) I agree with Adrian.... what you might do is cut the end off a couple of the rocks so that people can see what's inside. Honestly, some of my best stuff has come from rocks received from Micheal. In the pics they just look like rocks (some of them) but cutting in to them is a whole different story. As soon as I replace a couple of the wheels on my Genie, I'm gonna do some cabs out of rock received from MJ to show how this stuff looks for real. He's selling this for less than $1 a pound!!

Sweeet Summer cuts Randy! My problem when cutting is continuing slabbing the rock all the way out. Alot of times I'll slice through the center and than go onto the next one. I enjoy seeing the treasure within and forget to finish up the job. You are a Production Monser. Steve

Wow, that is a lot of slabs. You've got a lot of pre-forming to do.

Randy: We've seen you cut and you cut better than anybody that is for sure, although I didn't see you wrap, LOL!!! You are the cutting, slabbing, cabbing, wrapping master!
Beautiful slabs, that palm root, is that from the place we went? I think I have some of that too and it is very cool!
Randy was kind enough to slab for me, and man does he pack a box full of perfect slabs, I swear I dont know how he gets them all perfectly uniform!

Boy, I gotta get some of those materials from MJ! That is one big pile of slabs and preforms, looks like about 3 months of cabbing on my schedule. I'm in the same boat on the Genie wheels - I got new Nova wheels and shot Galaxy wheels. Great work man, impressive hand work for sure!!
