Wow! Closer is even better! Don, was that just a standard batch of Gem Shop tumbling OJ or is that specially selected pieces from premium cutting rough?.....Mel

Mel, now that I think about it, I guess most of this is just from two sources. I bought 5 lbs of supposedly premium rough from Madagascar Minerals (I think they were the company... based in Tucson). Those are the pieces that generally don't have the bright colors or have white orbs. They sent two chunks, one with the big white-blue orbs that shined really nicely (a good example is pic #4), another with smaller orbs that had some colour but it was not premium material and most of it got rejected along the tumbling path (you can see a couple pieces in the top-left corner of pic #6). The pieces with the brightly colored orbs are mainly from 5 lbs of top quality rough from Gems24... he always sells great stuff, I think you are a fan of his too? -Don

OK, That is some outstanding OJ! The only OJ that I have ever gotten was tumbling rough from rock shed. It was ok but lots of crystals and continued to chip away throughout the load. Some were fine but most left something to be desired. I haven't bought any since. Where to you find Gem24? Fran

Too cool! Thanks for posting these! I also paint, and your photos just gave me some creative inspiration. Ocean Jasper - I'm going to have to get some of that. You do a great job on the polish~ Erica

Thanks for the kind words, everyone! Yes, Gems24 is on ebay. He sells a lot of slabs, but also sells some nice batches of rough. The ocean jasper doesn't appear all that often, but when it does it is usually really nice stuff. He typically sells it in 5 lb lots, sometimes 10 lbs. It can be a bit pricy, but nice OJ always commands a high price. -Don
