You all are probably thinking I have just been hoarding all that material I collected at Prineville/Madras last month. Actually, I hurt my back right after I got back from the trip. Well, my back has finally allowed me work at the cab machine, so the first material I cabbed was a piece of Bat Cave Jasper I colleced from near the Ochocho reservoir from directions we had from Dan (Highplainsdrifter). This material may well be a jasper, but is very hard. It had quite a good polish coming off the 3000 belt. I utilized a small piece I had picked up, so the cab is nearly the size as the rough, and being a thick piece as well, it is high domed. Now, I just need to get a better camera. Woody

WOW! That stuff is so cool! And great shine, I think I can see you holding the camera in the reflection.
Take care of your back, you hear?

That is a really nice looking cab. I wish I would have taken the time go looking for that material when I was in Prineville. Maybe next time.
I hope you back heals quickly and doesn't give you any more problems.

Well you shared with me so no one can accuse you of hoarding. That is a beautiful cab! I love the concentric rings in the cab. Certainly does take a wonderful shine too. Can't wait to cab some.

Awesome stone!! The Bat Cave Jasper is as hard as any other jasper I've cut. It is quickly becoming one of my favorite materials. Several folks in my club told me to be very cautious of the rattlers up there. The roof of the main cave also collapsed several times back when mining was ongoing. Despite the dangers, I can't wait to go back. Dan

Seems like everybody warned us about the ratlers up there....bill quant said he would not go up there in the summer because of them. Hell, I wanted a hat band, and did not see a single one............either I make too much noise, or the snakes know I might eat them and use the rest for a hat band! Anyhow, both Garry, and I want to go up there again, and spend more time. I have only made the one cab, but I do like this material. Woody

I love this material. I remember some cabs Dan - HPD made of it. Yours is amazing, too.

Very Cool Cab Woody! Sorry to hear about your back...but at least it happened after you were home. That material reminds me of Bruneau too. And one last note...nothing that nice comes without risks! Rattlers and Cave-Ins...Bat Cave Jasper is well worth the risk....just be careful. Steve
