Well were on our way now! The 500,1000/pre-polish and polish stages are a cake walk after having to tend to the unit using the 220. As you can see below the rocks didn't loose much weight at all in the 500 stage. The 4 rocks in the lower right corner were removed due to flaws. You can see the biggest one has a "cavern" in it! lol In the next photo you can see that the rocks are starting to get a "sheen" to them,,,,,, This photo shows how "tight" the grain is starting to get.The rocks surfaces are getting very smooth now. Ah yes,,,,The wonderful world of cracks, pits and caverns. The rocks went in using1/2 teaspoonful 1000 grit, filler rocks and ceramic media at 1 pm. connrock

Looking good Tom!
I'm curious about the rocks you pulled. Did you do it for fear they would mar the rest?

Chuck, The big one with the cavern was pulled because that big hole has tiny crystal's in it and they will help to hold the grit. I don't want a cross contamination.
The others were pulled because they are broken and it would be fruitless to continue with them in the late stages as they would not "clean" up or be smooth. There is also the possibility that they might scratch the other smooth rocks.
Fran, Thanks, I'm glad you're enjoying this.
It's starting to get to me now that the rocks are in the vibe and I have to do a daily post instead of a weekly post!
,,,,,clean the rocks, separate the comp rocks from the filler rocks(grrrrr),weigh the load, take several photo's,edit the photo's upload them to my photo site, copy and past them here and I'm done!!
Oops,,,
Put the rocks back in the barrel and start it up!
Is it worth the trouble?
You bet-cha it is!!
