Sorry for the late reply! That Loup can get you into trouble trying to get rid of what you see in there!! lol Might be better to look at the rocks from the other side of the room!!!! lol This may sound nuts but when I started to reply to all of you(except for Jack) I KNEW I had done it before. I did but with the computer problem it must have gone into cyber space! Yeah, that loupe can wind up showing you more than you wanna see lol... There's a reason for the quote "Overanalysis leads to paralysis"! You know how badly you're making me want to fly cross country just fix that darn computer of yours... I'm still lamenting the loss of your response to my post about tumbling media . I hate it when that happens!!! So disheartening! If I remember reading correctly, you are using Norton Antivirus? Just for the record, I used it for several years, but the 2009 version caused too many problems. I now use Avast Antivirus, which is TOTALLY free & stays in the background, like it should, except for when it catches a virus. Let me know if you want details. Oh, and your response on the "Beach Rock & Pebble ID Book" thread was really eye-opening!!! Thanks! Hang in there, don't throw the computer over a cliff yet because your posts are too valuable and I want to see your comp rocks!!!! ~Erica

Well I hate to say this but it seems as if virus may be completely gone now.his thing is flying better then it did when it was new back in 05.
The rocks are another story!
They are quietly being Tripolied with plastic pellets.I know,,,I know,,,,Plastic pellets and vibes don't mix but some times ya gotta do whatcha gotta do.
For some reason when the rocks went through 1000/Tripoli they had VERY light scratches on them.I did find one small rock that fell apart and had sharp edges but it's so small I don't see how it could do all that scratching on it's own.
In any case I ran another 1000 for 24 hrs and then into the Tripoli.I checked them this morning (after a 24 hr run) and they seem to be coming along OK.
The thing with using plastic pellets is that they are soft and there's a lot of "give" to them so it takes a LOT longer to get good results,,,,,even in a vibe or at least mine.
I'll check them again 2morrow morn and hopefully I can finally take some photo's and move on to polish if they need it.

Got my fingers crossed for 'em, Connrock. Good thinking about the pellets. I think they work fine in the vibe. If you put enough in, they work up the sides and fall in the top dispersing themselves amongst the stones and providing the cushion they need.
Makes cleanup messy though. I rinse everything in a colander, carefully dump into a small bucket and fill with water and pull the rocks out as I check them. The pellets stay in the bucket. Another method is to fill up the bucket and pour the top water off through the colander. This catches most of the plastic pellets for ya.
Sorry for the hijack, how do you separate them?
