These are the cabs I did over the last month. Some good some not so good.
Apatite.
Bat Cave jasper. Woodyrock and I traded FRB's. I'm sure I got the better side of that deal. Like he said in his thread this stuff is, dare I say it, rock hard. ;D
Opalless boulder. OK I HATE B.O. Not because its tough to cab or anything but because it is just so disappointing. I spent $40 on two small pieces, maybe 2 oz each. That works out to $160 a pound, which TonyW tells me is bargain basement prices for this stuff so I shouldn't have expected much. The rough looked like it had a some opal in it but it turns out it was only the slightest little bit on the surface. I still have some more but I will never buy this stuff again, its just a waste of money.
Canadian moonstone. I forget what this stuff is actually called but it has a really nice blue flash. I bought all the guy had.
Common opal(?). The guy who sold this to me had no idea what it was. I'm pretty sure its opal or opalite. Not sure of the difference.
Disaster peak picture jasper, McDermott claim. I bought a FBR of this off of ebay and was really happy with the material.
Local. Not sure what the grey part is, its the local stone they use for paving. The veins are prehnite and epidote.
Flourapatite (no Curt we didn't make up that name). Its from a quarry near here.
Cantrememberite.
Tiny Mexican jelly opal.
Rutilated quartz. The bubbles in it make it cloudy.
Quartz from Naturenut.
Ocean jasper from Amber. The yellow dots started falling out during the cabbing process so it got the CA treatment.
Prehnite and granite collected from the quarry near Amber's house.
Pietersite. I wanted some blue but cheaped out and got stuff with no chatoyance.
Psilomene. This is one of my all time favorite cabs. The stuff is messy but when its cut parallel to the bands like this it makes a stunning cab. Amber gave me this one as well.
Thanks for looking.
