I am now doing a Snowy Quartz batch. I got this beautiful quartz from Morticia and am so stoked. I have never seen snowy quartz, let alone tumble it. So it is now on its journey in my rotary ... I am starting it with lots of cushion (5 tablespoons of plastic pellets (they are great for the rotary) and 3 tablespoons of 60/90. I will check it again on Saturday. Please!!!!!! Any and all input .... if anyone thinks I am about to murder this batch, please tell me. Morticia!!! Thank You and everyone else .... I rely on you for guidance all the time. As always .... Julie

Is that the white rock that they often use for landscaping?

Hi There!
Nope ... this is not landscaping rock (I don't think). What you see in the bowl is snowy quartz (with a couple of clear quartz) that I had to cut down to tumbling size.
The pictures look darker than they really are. They are a snowy color.
I still have some of the larger pieces left and some of them have their true and signature points.
As always Julie

Hi Julie, that is beautiful rough! It looks very solid, and I like the simple solid color too. I bet this will look very elegant when completed. I would forego using plastic pellets in the rough grind though. You want the stones to grind up against each other to help round them off.

Nate .... I am glad you said something as I using the pellets.
My fear ... is that (past history has taught me) they will fracture or crack without the cushion.
Yes .... I know that I am working with a solid quartz and the chances are very slim they will fracture or crack ... but I am erring on the side of caution.
I do not know if I could take another murdered batch. Yes .... I know practice and mistakes are very important in honing any skill well!
But .... when I check the batch Friday or Saturday and depending on how they look, I may eliminate the pellets.
As always
