I have finally finished a batch and I think it came out pretty good.
Last night I spent the evening sitting at my table drying off every piece and checking for gross cracks, pits, or any other markings that I need to make note of.
I took a lot of pictures and will probably take a lot more this evening. Hopefully, I will get all the pics done and posted this evening.
This batch is the perfect example of why you do not mix mohs.
Notes to keep in mind when looking at the pictures:
The Wonderstones (I think) need to be either burnished more or added into a rotary batch beginning at 120/220 and not 60/90. I think this would be best as Wonderstones are soft.
I have several rocks/stones that look almost exactly like some of the rocks Conrock is getting out of his competition batch. There are pits (deep ones). These will be set aside and added to a future batch of lakers in the rotary.
All of the goodies I got from Fran that I cut up and made my own brand of cabs came out great with the exception of the tiny specks of polish that are embedded. The shine is pretty good on most of them.
Other goodies such as tumbling rough I got a while back and some miscellaneous rough from The Rock Shed have killer shines. There are a few that have those irritating specks of white.
I am actually thinking of taking the really cool cabs that have the specks and adding them to the new vibe I am building. I will start them back at the 120/220 and will make sure that I burnish even better this time around.
So ... once I post the pictures ... I will need input and lots of it.
Thanks Guys
