I guess I should have done this when I first joined but I got laid off work then I got hired back a week later so I have been stressing and not really thinking. Or maybe... I never think:)
Anyhow.. Howdee, My name is Sara and I live in Overland Park, Kansas. Born and raised in Georgia but been in Kansas City since 1975. My love of rocks came from my Aunt. She and I used to go to the Smokey Mountains every chance we got and we would always pick up rocks from the creeks or whenever we found one we loved. She had a huge oak tree out in her front yard and thats where we would put our rocks. She died last fall and she left me her rocks but I havent had time to go to Georgia and pick them up. I love to go to Arkansas and dig for crystals. I make natural gemstone bracelets for my family and friends. But my latest interest is stone intarsia. MossyRockHound and 58Vette and Amber have given me some good advise and I thank you. I know NatureNut and Saskrock from another board. Looking forward to getting to know each of you and I greatly enjoy your posts. So if any of yall every need anything from Kansas City all you have to do is whistle:) Sara

Welcome Sara. I have sister that lives next door to you. I can't ever remember the town's name. She first lived in Overland Park, then moved next door. I have to say the Overland Park and adjacent areas are the cleanest cities I have ever seen.
Hope you stick around and learn, teach, and have a good time.
Curt

I'll be unpacking 4200lbs of rock and setting up my gargae shop starting 31-Aug. Hope to connect with other KS rockhounds as the Fall rolls on.

Welcome Sara, Steve B. had just mentioned you were planning on comming to the Round up in NC and because of your job didn't get to. Maybe will get to met you sometime in MO. There is a Rock and Gem show in Joplin Sept 25th, 26, and 27th. I know that still is a long drive. ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png) Hope things look up from now on. Welcome to the board Sara! I am glad you got hired back and just take many deep breaths and keep on plugging along. The road will smooth out. There are so many folks here that have great information and it is a pleasure to get to know them all! Fran

Well I just did a search for "Kansas" and saw this thread. Sara you and I are neighbors! I'm just up in KCK area but work in Overland Park, just across the street from the mall! I just recently got back into tumbling and am thinking of purchasing a trim saw, maybe one from Home Depot. Anyways. . . good to see another Kansan here! We'll have to share rockhounding areas (as soon as I find one, lol).
