Fall is fast approaching. I found this light blue opal on a recent field trip and someone gave me some very small pieces of precious opal. I decided to try my hand at inlaying. I made a fantastic discovery, which is to start with something larger. This piece is only 1/4" along the bottom and the moon is only 5mm wide. Way to small for my big clumsy digits. If anyone is interested in the field trip report it is located on my website: www.gametrails.com under the report "Basalt Anyone!" Thanks for looking chasfire

Chas, That's gorgeous. When you look at it, you gotta wonder at it. I also enjoyed reading about how you got into hounding and how your mapmaking developed on your site. Jo

Dang that is a beautiful piece of art:) My grandaddy's land had a swamp on the backside of the garden and thats what the full moon looked like coming up except there was a dragon in it:)

Chasfire:
What a beautiful piece you made! I think you need to mount it in a gold brooch setting. You have taken toww nice pieces of material, and put something together that brought out the true artist in you! Woody
