They are just little one pound bags of various glass I got from the Dollar Tree.
I did not get the little bags of river rock as they may possible be agates and the agates would be greater than the typical mohs in my other batches.

Glass is supposed to produce gas when it tumbles so you may want to keep an eye on your barrels. You don't want to blow a seal.

Hi All!
From my understanding, it is organic material that creates the gas. That is why so many will tell you that rinsing/washing your rock batches is important.
Plus .... I have a Lortone 33B and I have never had a gas issue with any of my batches.

Julie,
Glass is a silicate and is gassy. I have a batch of slag glass and pieces of glass I have found running now. I had to burp the barrel in the 33b lortone every few hours the first day. Then at least 2 times a day the first 2 weeks. I then decided that it should be ok and let it run 2 days...what a mess all over! I am now burping it and cleaning the rim every day. It is really a "worth it" tumble but it needs special care. Tomorrow, it will go to the 120-220 grit. I am pretty sure it will all be worth it in the long run! Fran
