I want to set up a website where I can sell some jewelry and maybe some rough rock. I am technologically challenged, so it needs to be fairly EZ. Any suggestions? Susan

many free web hosting sites have templates you can use to set up web sites in no time at all. All you have to do is provide pictures and text. I use fortunecity.com for my web site (their freebie package), but there are many other hosts out there which also provide templates. When I put my site up about 7 years ago, I used the templates, but after a while I started learning how to add this and how to add that (kind of like tumbling... you learn as you go along). Now I still use the same freebie web hosting package, but I build my own pages instead of using their templates.

Most important. Make sure you keep the images small enough and reduce their file size so they don't take too long to load. Use thumbnails that open the larger images in another window. It's a proven fact that people do not wait for a page to load and many times sales have been lost because they got tired of waiting and left. Not every one is on high speed, the largest number of internet users are still those on dial-up.

LOL, cher's right, I have high speed and still don't wait. anything taking longer than I THINK it should gets the boot and I move on.

Had some classes years ago but most of it is self-taught. I started nine years ago and have got a small client base of websites I've designed and maintain. It's something that's changed drastically over the years but the basics are still the same when it comes to selling your site.
