I've gotta chime in here a little bit. I've spent some time with MJ. Not a lot, but some serious quality time. Shooting the shit at 1-2am about life, that kind of thing. We discovered his agate road, on the internet, and in real time when I was there. I can say this... he thought the world of the RTH community, he absolutely couldn't believe that initial PIF started by Sherri.
I don't know fully what was holding him to that spot in the sand, but, I could sense it was powerful.
Many times, in that short stay, I had a chance to witness his character. Including getting the boot (eviction speech) from his house. He always chose the high road.
I've gotta believe he is in dire straits, and I do mean life and death, for him to just abandon the only social group he had left and held in such high regard.
I've tried every avenue I can think of to contact him. He's either in the desert, making due. Or... he's not doing well.
That's not to excuse what's happened, but, when shit hits the fan hard, you're just trying to see the next day alive.
He thought the world of you guys, I know that for a fact. He told me and PM'd that repeatedly. I could be wrong, but I betcha we haven't heard the last of MJ.
If I didn't live so fricken far away, I'd be hunting his butt down right now as we speak, and to be honest, I'm not far from doing it anyways.
Hey... I'll be happy to cover for him for any of you that had ordered rocks and didn't get them. PM me with what you had ordered and an address, and I'll be happy to send you a box of rocks.

I would cover the rocks too. Already was thinking that. I still have a bunch that he sent me and a bunch of my own to send.

OK let me start by saying that I am worried also since no one that knows him can find him ether. But I want to say again it's not about the rocks or the money(at least for me) it's about the way it happened. I do not think that everyone covering for him is the answer. This is his mistake and he needs to fix it not have it fixed by someone else, even if it take awhile because it's his problem.

I agree with Keith in that I dont expect someone else to cover this. I plan on chalking this up to experience. I came close to posting about this situation over a month ago,but chose not to after seeing his posts stop. I didnt want any other members to be caught up in this as I was. I pm'd several members about it and I dont think it was a complete shock. I sincerely hope MJ is alright. Who knows, I may someday get my order in the mail. I dont have any hard feelings towards him. Lifes too short for things like that.

Steve, if I win the powerball tomorrow night I will send you the money to go look for MJ. Things went from bad to worse for him, and he was at a real low point anyway. I think his friends on RTH was the only thing that gave him hope.
Kap I know you bought things to help him out even things you probably didn't need or want . I think you are the greatest!! ;D
I think if at all possible MJ will honor his orders when he can.
I just fear the worst for him and he needs prayers from his friends here that he will be ok. Donna

I certainly hope he is ok also. I quite honestly really did not need the rocks I bought from him this last time seeing I already have 20 lbs of it that I got from him earlier. Just was trying help out.
I will be very interested to see how this turns out. I hope someone hears from him sooner or later.

I talked to the dispatch for the Sheriff's office in Pahrump and they said they could do a welfare check. She told me she had an address listed for Michael and that they would send someone out to see if he is ok. She also said if they were unable to make contact with him, they would call me back to let me know and if they did contact him, he would be given the message to contact me along with my phone number.

Ok Folks, I have some news.
I have learned that MichaelJohn is physically OK. I do not have an address or phone number where he can be reached. I have not talked to him (although I surely wish I could). I'm hoping he'll contact me, Steve, or anyone else.
At any rate, he is going to have to surface in his own time.
Unfortunately, this all I have at the present moment. So, we are all stuck waiting. But, he is physically OK.

I just got a call from the Sheriff's office in Pahrump and they sent a deputy to do a welfare check but he no longer lives at the address they had for him. They told me a new family moved into the house he was in about a week ago.

This is distressing. We all know he was having problems, I just hope he is physcially OK, and I am sure when he gets established he will get in touch with those that he owes rock. I feel for anyone losing their home and their living. I also see why Kap and others were upset and rightfully so.
